Machinist – Personality of the Fortnight

A unique presence in the air treatment space - Dinesh Gupta, President, Bry Air

Mr Dinesh Gupta, President, Bry Air

Dinesh Gupta, the President of Bry Air has contributed immensely to the expansion of business and overseas market share of this leading dehumidification systems manufacturing company in India. Mr Gupta has vast knowledge about indoor environment control, having spent over two decades working in different capacities in various segments of this sector.

Today, Mr Gupta is considered one of the leading experts in the field of application and engineering of environment control equipment such as dehumidifiers, Resin Dryers, and various energy recovery, air and gas purification and air engineering systems.

Leading towards success

Under Mr Gupta’s able leadership Bry Air, a Pahwa Group enterprise, has diversified considerably and carved a niche for itself in the global dehumidification systems manufacturing segment.

Mr Gupta has played a vital role in establishing the company’s manufacturing facilities in countries such as Malaysia and China. Today, the company has a network of offices in Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, UAE, US, South Africa, Australia, Brazil and Europe.

Bry Air’s products are exported to 40 countries across the world including Japan, Korea, Europe and the US.

Strong foundation

Mr Gupta secured a degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi, in 1975, and followed it up with a Post Graduation in International Marketing from Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) in 1979.

To enhance his knowledge about various aspects of air-drying and energy recovery, he also enrolled for extensive orientation programmes offered by leading institutes in the US and Holland.

Mr Gupta is highly experienced in the field of renewable energy in photovoltaics (solar cells). He has also worked with UEC in California as a specialist in photovoltaics.

Offering solutions

While dehumidifiers are used extensively in a number of industries, including food, paper and printing, textiles, pharmaceuticals, wood, leather and so on, there is a huge demand for them in the construction sector, both residential and commercial. Some of the common humidity induced problems faced by buildings include fish eye effect, salt formation, bubbles etc.

This has created a huge market for dehumidifying equipment in India. In the words of Mr Gupta, “The dehumidifying equipment market in India is gradually expanding, , riding on the back of the growth of the real estate and infrastructure sector in the country. Keeping in mind the demand in the market, Bry Air has developed dehumidifying machines that resemble air conditioners that can be easily installed inside a concrete structure. These machines come with a hose that is used to flush dry air. Today, these equipments are widely used by nearly all the players in the infrastructure sector.”

Prioritising quality

Maintaining and improving the quality of all Bry Air products is of primary importance to Mr Gupta. According to him, “Whatever a company manufactures, the quality should always be of the highest standards. Even a slight slip-up on the quality front would not only entail losing a potential client but also dent the brand image, which one cannot afford, especially in these uncertain times.”

Contribution outside role

Mr Gupta is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and the Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE).

He has written several informative articles on humidity control, energy recovery systems and Indoor air quality (IAQ) that have been published in various technical journals.
