Johnson Controls to Manufacture 30 Million Auto Batteries a Year

Johnson Controls Inc, the world’s largest manufacturer of automobile batteries, has recently announced that it will manufacture over 30 million leadacid automobile batteries in China annually. The decision has been taken because of the growing automobile market in the country and the burgeoning demand for lead-acid batteries. The company expects to achieve the targeted production volume by 2015.

At present, Johnson Controls has a single manufacturing facility in China.

To fulfil its production demands, the company will construct three other manufacturing facilities, which will take its facility count to four. Johnson Controls has already started constructing its second facility, and the site selection process for the third plant is under way. The fourth and fifth factories are in the planning stages.

The company is expecting considerable growth in its revenues after the completion of its manufacturing units in the country. Besides automotive batteries, the company also sells automobile components, and provides services such as installation and maintenance of heating, ventilation and airconditioning (HVAC) for buildings.
