MAG wins $7 mn Contract to Supply Automated Drilling System

Lockheed Martin, a globally renowned advanced technology and services firm, has awarded MAG Industrial Automation Systems a purchase and procurement order. The order is worth around $7 million. MAG Industrial Automation will supply Lockheed Martin with two six-axis CNC-controlled auto drill systems. Lockheed has chosen MAG considering its successful delivery of projects and the precision of its equipment. The drills will be used to drill high-precision fastener holes for the centre wing assembly of F-35 Joint Strike Fighters.

Being developed at Lockheed’s manufacturing plant at Marietta, Georgia in the US, the fighter is part of the company’s F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Project.

MAG Automation will deliver the drill systems by the first quarter of 2011. Lockheed had earlier purchased three six-axis CNC-controlled auto drill systems, which are deployed at its facility in Fort Worth, Texas.
