Cognizant and Invensys sign five-year contract

Cognizant, a leading provider of information technology has recently inked a contract with Invensys Rail Group (IRG), a division of Invensys which provides railway control and communication systems. The contract has been signed for five years, during which Cognizant will develop products for Invensys Rail’s group of companies in the US, the UK, Australia and Spain. This is the second deal that has been inked between Cognizant and Invensys Group, after the one signed in July 2009.



The decision in favour of the deal was taken after the successful consolidation of the Invensys Operations Management R&D division. According to R Chandrasekaran, President and MD, Global Delivery, Cognizant, IRG chose Cognizant because of its capability to achieve its business objectives.

The deal will play significant role in enhancing Cognizant’s capabilities in terms of the range of engineering services it offers. In terms of capability enhancement, the deal will empower Cognizant to serve more diverse requirements from different markets. At present, the engineering and manufacturing services provided by the company account for around 17 per cent of its revenue.
