Avia vehicles were seen at the Capitol in Washington DC as six Smith Newton full electric midi trucks were handed over to the representatives of six top US companies including Coca Cola and AT&T in front of the Capitol. The keys for these vehicles were handed over by members of the US Congress, led by Missouri Senator Kit Bond.  Built on Czech-made Avia chassis and cabs by Tanfield UK and Smith USA, these zero-emission electric vehicles are a sign of things to come in green transportation, in the wake of increased environmental awareness and action. For Avia Ashok Leyland Motors (AALM), this signals an enhanced presence in the green transportation sector which offers high volume potential. For more than five years, AALM has been associated with the Tanfield Group UK for the supply of electric vehicles to the United Kingdom, which along with Ireland, France and the Netherlands, is an important international market for the company. |
