Bharat Forge Ltd, a machine components manufacturing and supplying firm in Pune, recently signed an agreement with KPIT Cummins Infosystems Ltd, an engineering and IT consulting firm in the automotive and manufacturing domain. The agreement aims at establishing a joint venture which will focus on manufacturing and selling a new hybrid technology for automotives. ![]() The technology, known as Revolo, will enhance the fuel efficiency of both existing and new automobiles by over 40 per cent. It will also reduce the emission of greenhouse gases by over 30 per cent, while boosting engine performance. Moreover, the technology can enhance the engine fuel efficiency by over 60 per cent and reduce the emission of greenhouse gases by over 30 per cent under smooth driving conditions. Official resources haveconfirmed that the technology, developed by KPIT Cummins, will be licensed Bharat Forge to manufacture the product. The product will be offered to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and individual vehicle owners through the authorised dealership network. Revolo will enable service stations to convert conventional vehicles into environment-friendly vehicles. Moreover, it will provide customers with a cost-effective option to upgrade their vehicles without spending on a new hybrid vehicle. Another major advantage of the technology is that it will enable both the engine and the motor to operate simultaneously.Thus, the vehicle can automatically switch over to the conventional driving mode if the batteries get drained. Moreover, Revolo is a plug-in system which can be charged through standard power sources such as a domestic power outlet. |
