Mahindra Navistar Automotives Ltd (MNAL), established after the recent joint venture between Mahindra & Mahindra and Navistar International for the manufacturing of trucks, has revealed its plan to enter the bus manufacturing domain soon. According to the latest reports, plans are under way to manufacture a range of buses in diesel and CNG variants, which will also feature low floors. Along these lines, the company has opened talks with the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers to standardise the specifications for its bus range. Rakesh Kalra, MD, MNAL, opines that with the company joining the bus manufacturing domain, the biddings under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) will become more competitive. |
