Panasonic reveals aggressive sales growth plans

Japanese consumer electronics firm Panasonic has recently revealed its aggressive growth targets for Indian markets from 2009 onwards. The official release says that it has planned to stretch its annual sales revenue to a billion dollars in the next two years. Along this line, Panasonic has already announced a $300million investment in distribution, manufacturing and marketing expansion for the Indian markets in the coming three years.

However, looking at the strong hold that electronics giants like LG, Samsung and Videocon have over the Indian markets, speculations are high about the odds in favour of Panasonic. Sharing his thoughts on this matter, Arjun Balakrishnan, Director, Panasonic India, says that though it would be difficult to compete with the already established brands, Panasonic would operate on very tight strategies.

Looking at the huge consumer electronics market in India, valued at around Rs 28,000 crore, Panasonic has planned to achieve gross sales worth Rs 4,000 crore in Financial Year 2009-10.
