The Haryana government has allotted 700 acres of land to Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, for the company to set up a research and development facility and test course, as well as to accommodate its ancillaries. The state is steadily emerging as a global manufacturing hub for the company’s global operations. With the development of this new facility, Suzuki is planning to make Haryana its product engineering and development base. It will also be equipped with facilities for component durability testing and performance evaluation, apart from the complete design and development of the vehicles. The company is also planning laboratories for wind-tunnel testing, collision testing and emission testing at the Haryana facility. Of the 700 acres, 600 acres will be utilised to set up the R&D facility and test course, while the remaining 100 acres will be leased out to ancillaries of Maruti Suzuki India Limited. The new facility expects to attract investment of approximately Rs 1000 crore to the region and will be the largest facility of the Suzuki Motor Corporation outside Japan. |
