Siemens to invest Rs 275 crore in facility

Siemens Ltd plans to expand their steam turbine manufacturing facility located at Vodadara, Gujarat. The company plans to invest Rs 275 crore and is scheduled to be complete by 2010. Its manufacturing capacity will be tripled after this upgradation work because it will add three production bays amounting to 14,000 sq mt to the existing production facility. In addition, the factory will have the capacity to manufacture steam turbines up to 100 Mw. After this, the factory will focus on strengthening its export business in Asia, Africa and Europe.



The company has established its competence in the manufacturing of smaller steam turbines in a short span of two years and this has given them the confidence to expand. With this advancement, the company will be in a better position to serve Indian as well as global customers.

The factory is spread across an area of 60,000 sq mt. They now manufacture single- and multi-stage steam turbines up to 45 MW for industrial applications. The facility has been established by the company as a centre of competence for smaller steam turbines.
