Yamaha Motor recently inaugurated a manufacturing plant at Surajpur, Uttar Pradesh. It is spread over an area of 36,000 sq mt. The new unit has the capacity to produce 6 lakh motorcycles annually. Its production capacity can be augmented to 1 million units. The plant has four engine assembly lines including one dedicated for export engines and three vehicle assembly lines. The vehicle assembly lines and the engines are synchronised. They incorporate concepts of unit assurance, that is, complete product assurance, parts assurance through 100-percent kit supply on lines and synchronisation of parts storage, supply and production. ![]() Fazer (FZ16 and FZ-S), the newly launched bike, will be manufactured at the new plant at Surajpur alongwith other models. The Surajpur plant meets all global quality benchmarks. Processes like 5-S and total productive maintenance (TPM) activities fuel Yamaha’s manufacturing processes. New Fazer is the recent addition to Yamaha’s portfolio of technologically superior bikes including YZF-R15, FZ16 and FZ-S.
