Vintage and classic automobiles go online in India

The first ever club website in India devoted exclusively to vintage and classic automobiles was launched on Saturday, November 7, 2009 by the Heritage Motoring Club of India

New Delhi, November 9, 2009:- The first ever club website in India devoted exclusively to vintage and classic automobiles (www.hmci.org) was launched on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 12 noon by the Heritage Motoring Club of India (HMCI). The website was launched by K. T. S. Tulsi, president of the HMCI at W21/11 Western Avenue, Sanik Farms, New Delhi amidst a rare collection of 40 vintage and classic cars and motorcycles belonging to members of the HMCI.

The launch of the club website was followed by lunch. To make the afternoon even more interesting, all guests present were given an opportunity to judge the vintage and classic cars and motorcycles on display based on which the most elegant car and motorcycle were awarded prizes.

Following the success of the HMCI journal “Classic Wheels”, which is India’s only classic automobile journal, the website will offer a forum for vintage and classic automobile enthusiasts to share their passion for these timeless beauties. In addition to offering information about the HMCI, the website will assist in locating spares for vintage and classic automobiles.

The website will also take car enthusiasts down the memory lane and introduce them to the “Automobiles of the Royals”. One can also download and subscribe to Classic Wheels the first ever journal published on vintage and classic automobiles. Other features of the website include a library, a showcase of automotive fine arts and automobilia, a review of past HMCI events and activities planned, an opportunity to participate in forthcoming events and donate to social causes supported by the HMCI as well as an opportunity to advertise on the website.

The website has been designed by Shahana Garg of DBar Inc., a well-known New York-based website designer.
