Aug 7, 2009, Mumbai: Sajjan Jindal, the President of the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), has welcomed the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) signed between India and Korea. Mr Jindal has termed it as a landmark achievement of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, since the FTA was due for long.
The ASSOCHAM Chief hoped that the FTA between India and Korea would substantially improve bilateral agreements in areas of automobile, components, heavy engineering, electronics and electrical appliances.
According to ASSOCHAM, Korea is one of the developed nations in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and it hoped that the FTA between India and Korea would further facilitate and speed up bilateral trade relations between India and the ASEAN.
