Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) is the apex body that actively participates in the formulation of rules, regulations and policies related to the automobile industry. The organisation represents 44 well-known vehicle and vehicular engine manufacturers in India.
The organisation is entrusted with the responsibility to enhance trade relations and technical cooperation between the Indian automobile industry and its international counterparts. Apart from this, SIAM interacts with global experts and assesses the current trends and developments in the global automobile industry. It disseminates information on the current industry trends through various publications, reports, seminars and conferences. Of late, the organisation has been pursuing important issues such as promotion of alternative fuels and harmonisation of safety and emission standards, among others.
In association with the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the SIAM organises the Auto Expo series of trade fairs in the country.
