Autodesk Launches Inventor 2011 with Digital Prototyping and Automation Capabilities

Autodesk recently announced a new range of 2D and 3D design and engineering software for the manufacturing industry. Bundled under Autodesk Digital Prototyping, the software package will enable digital designing, visualisation and simulation of products before their actual manufacture. As per the officially shared information, Autodesk has improved its existing design and visualisation software range by embedding it with its core Autodesk Inventor 3D software for mechanical design and engineering. As compared to the Inventor 2010 version, the 2011 package has better design speed and control over the design process due to its direct manipulation capabilities. The design time for Inventor 2011 is around 40 per cent lesser than that for Inventor 2010, specifically in terms of tasks such as assembly modelling. Moreover, the 2011 version of Inventor also features Autodesk’s leading design visualisation capabilities within the CAD application. With this, users can better conceptualise and communicate designs with clients. Its innovative shading, lighting and material properties enable aphoto-realistic representation of designs, with Inventor rendering the designs as the user works.

Autodesk’s 2011 product range makes huge strides in technology integration and productivity, extending the benefits of digital prototyping to more manufacturers seeking to make better products. Apart from simulation and tooling, Inventor 2011 also features innovative functionalities such as design automation and freeform shape modelling.
