Siemens launches Universal Socket

Siemens recently launched the Universal Socket to address the growing concern of consumers who demand a safe and reliable universal socket.

As most people use equipment that is manufactured in various countries, they find it difficult to safely use their electronic/electrical appliances. They face problems such as lose sockets, which disrupt work, leadings to sparking and potential short circuits. This situation is hazardous to consumers and electronic/electrical appliances. Hence, Siemens introduced the universal socket into its DELTA vega range. This product answers the consumer’s foremost demand of safety and convenience. Most failures/breakages are often observed when plugs are inserted and removed from the socket. This happens due to the difference in size and thickness of the plug pins of different countries. According to the company, designing and developing this universal socket was a challenging task. The Siemens universal socket has passed the most stringent tests prescribed by the Indian Standards and International Electrotechnical Commission to ensure a long life and high safety level.

One of the features of the universal socket is its unique marking on the socket, which indicates where the user can insert the right plug. About eight types of plugs can be used, like the 13A British type, Chinese type three-pin plugs, 15A North American type, 2.5A European type, etc. This socket has a shutter, which slides open only when a suitable plug is inserted in the appropriate manner. The perfect grip of the plug ensures that there are no chances of sparking. Also, the plug grip remains the same even if a thin-pin type plug is used, followed by a thicker round-pin type. One of the key features of the Siemens universal socket is that the two-pin plug and a three-pin type plug can be used simultaneously.
