The Power Generation business unit of Cummins India recently launched automatic transfer switches (ATS) for the first time in the Indian market. The PowerCommand ATS from the company’s portfolio plays a critical role in on-site emergency standby power systems. The product transfers electrical loads from a utility service to an alternative power source, such as a standby generator, in the event of a failure of the primary power source. The product returns the load to the primary power once the utility voltage stabilises. The ATS is suitable for critical applications such as hospitals, hotels, data centres, commercial complexes, malls as well as the telecom and process industries where power failure results in a loss of major processes and machinery. ATS will enable customers to optimise performance by minimising losses due to downtime. In addition to state-of-the-art microprocessor-based control technology, the PowerCommand ATS features a robust mechanism for easy operation and highcontact force design for optimum system reliability. The launch of the ATS in the Indian market aligns with the company’s strategy to offer complete endto-end dependable solutions to its customers, strengthening their promise of providing quality and uninterrupted power supply.
![]() The product’s microprocessor-based controls have optimised performance and simplified operations and service in over 1,00,000 installations worldwide. In India, Cummins Power Generation transfer switches will be available in the 40-4000 amp range, offering safe, dependable and easy-to-use power transfer for modes such as open-transition, programmed-transition, closed-transition and bypass isolation transfers. They are built to withstand thousands of switching cycles, ensuring reliable operation. The new switches are field-configurable for in-phase or programmed transition. The controllers feature pushbuttons for testing and programming delays. LED indicators provide brief system status information about the transfer switches and the generator set. |
