The ZF Group inaugurates its first wholly-owned manufacturing plant in Pune
Gear manufacturer ZF India recently opened a new manufacturing plant in Nanekarwadi, Pune. The plant is the ZF Group’s first wholly-owned manufacturing facility in India. Covering an area of 2,500 square metres, the plant will be dedicated to ZF’s off-road division. The infrastructure was created to meet the demands of the construction equipment market in India. The plant was inaugurated by Rajendra Dardaji, the Honourable Minister for Industries, Employment and Self-employment, Government of Maharashtra. ZF was represented by Hans Georg Haerter, Chairman and CEO, ZF Friedrichshafen AG. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Haerter said, “The ZF group has had a presence in India for close to three decades, through joint venture manufacturing facilities for steering components, chassis and suspension parts. We are proud to inaugurate our first wholly-owned plant in India, which will cater to ZF’s offroad division.” ![]() Klaus Sicker Vice President & Head Off-Road Division, ZF India said, “The inauguration of the plant marks the launch of the new rear axle for the backhoe loader application. There is a strong focus on localisation of parts with vendors in order to give the customers a cost advantage.” He added that the Indian production portfolio will soon be followed by full power shift transmissions for backhoe loaders and other products important to India’s off-road market. Piyush Munot, Director & Head ZF India and Vice President of ZF Services commented, “The Indian market has been of strategic interest to our group for a very long time. We find the Indian market very conscious of quality and technological advantages. ZF, through its localisation programmes, will be able to cater to the market’s demands for high quality and technology at a competitive price tag.” ZF also formally inaugurated its service operations in India, to address the aftermarket requirements of the country. ZF has established its company-owned service stations in Pune, Raipur and Bangalore, while Delhi is represented through a service partner. These centres will ensure the quickest possible responses to field concerns and aftermarket sales. |
