India’s automotive manufacturing industry has seen a huge boom in the past decade, with international manufacturers and automotive parts suppliers setting up shop in the country’s main manufacturing hubs such as Chennai, Pune and Gurgaon. As labour is relatively cheap in India, manufacturers have only just begun to consider implementing automation and robotic solutions in their plants to improve cost competitiveness and to improve flexibility and scalability of their plants to meet the increasingly versatile needs and demands of consumers.

Advanced Automotive Manufacturing India 2012, an upcoming 2-day event will help address the current requirement for cost-effective techniques and advanced technologies across India. This industry-led event will cover the latest innovations for advanced automotive manufacturing in the region, besides promoting cost-effective techniques and high-end technologies in pharmaceutical cold chain management and transportation across India.

The automotive industry is facing new and pressing challenges. Globalisation, individualisation, digitalisation and increasing competition are changing the face of the industry. In addition, increasing safety requirements and voluntary environmental commitments by the automotive industry will also contribute to the changes ahead. Size is no longer a guarantee of success. Only those companies that find new ways to create value will prosper in the future. The purpose of this event is to present an overview of the automotive industry today and highlight the challenges facing the industry.
